Joe has developed a slight dislike of pallets, so when I showed him the pinterest popular pallet trees and explained my desire to have one, his level of excitement wasn’t very high. In fact it took several weeks (i started asking in early November) for him to believe that I was actually serious in wanting him to make one.
Instead of a pallet he used the shelves he had built for his beloved shed (he does love me 🙂 ) to create my pallet tree! Now it was up to me to create a pinterest worthy holiday decoration!
First was my husbands wonderful tree, after he cleaned it up a bit. (he couldn’t think of why I wanted this inside so had assumed it would be an outside decoration and had left it a bit scruffy at first)
Then I created my work space in the living room, put on the Santa Clause (with Tim Allen, my favorite!) and got my paint ready.
I couldn’t decide if I would do the whole things green, or if I would throw in other colors. I had seen some really cute trees with several colors so I decided to give it a shot, I could always paint over it with my green if I didn’t like it.
I was happy with it! I painted the top tier yellow, and then decided to try something I had seen at cracker barrel the week before, a start made of nails and rope. I nailed my 5 points of the start and used hemp to create the outline of a star. I then painted my lyrics to O Come All Ye Failthful – “Oh Come Let Us Adore Him”
With that complete, hubby was put back to work by hanging it in the piano room over the couch! I love it. Perfect hubby-made / wife-painted project!
